Interesting article. I like Dr. Mercola's website. He has lots of useful information backed by a lot of research. So many people are on prescription drugs for all sorts of reasons, yet Americans are still not healthy. I believe there is an over-reliance on prescription meds that really only treat symptoms and not diseases, and which have been inadequately tested and frequently turn out to be highly dangerous.
But violent behavior predates this phenomena, so not all of it can be blamed on chemicals messing up someone's head. What about violence in the name of religion? Belief in the most absurd ideas has been around for millennia, and doesn't appear to be on its way out any time soon. You would think, in an age when millions of people can easily research any subject at all to find out if it really is true, that religion would be nearly extinct by now. It seems that people WANT to believe in the impossible. They WANT there to be invisible entities (gods, angels, ghosts, etc.) that look after them and protect them. It's like they never really grew up and they still need a parental figure to tell them what to do and how to behave, and they are happy to accept that in the form of a priest, rabbi, or minister (authority figure) claiming to speak in the name of God (even higher authority figure). I do not know how to combat this. Education, alone, doesn't seem to be doing the trick.
